Award-winning journalist, author and event host
I specialise in housing and architecture, travel, place and cities with a focus on the possibilities of radical urban planning. My journalism has appeared in The Guardian, The Times and The Times and Sunday Times, The House, Art UK and more. I write a weekly column for The Times, appearing in the T2 and Scotland sections.
I am currently working on my second book, a narrative non-fiction exploration of future-proof architecture. The People are the City: Dispatches from the Urban Future, will be published by Headline Press in 2026. Read more here.
In 2022 I was named Travel Writer of the Year at the Scottish Press Awards. The following year I was named runner-up for Scoop of the Year for my investigations into abuse at high-end restaurant kitchens. In 2024 I came runner-up in the Columnist of the Year category.
I am represented by Sophie Lambert of C&W Agency.
